Thursday AM Ike Update

September 11, 2008 at 9:42 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Hurricane Ike is expected to make landfall late tomorrow night along the middle coast of Texas.  The projected path right now will take the center into Freeport, however the impacts from Ike will be felt from Houston to Corpus Christi.  The hurricane will weaken once it moves inland and move more northward bringing the center just to the east of the Metroplex.

Starting late Saturday morning we will start to see the wind pick up here in North Texas with gust as high as 40-45mph.  You may want to go around outside your house and secure any outdoor materials & property.  These winds could knock off some roof shingles, knock down some small trees or branches and we could even have some minor power outages.

Rain is expected to be heavy here with some spots getting several inches.  The heaviest rain will be Saturday Night into Sunday.  But, we could see showers start as early as noon on Saturday and continue into late Sunday.

The forecast continues to be tweaked with each hurricane update, so continue to watch NBC5 this afternoon and tonight at 10.
