Scorching Summer Stats By Steve MacLaughlin

Saturday was the hottest day of 2008. The high temperature at DFW Airport got up to 102 degrees. In fact, that makes July 12th the hottest since last August.

A cold front will move into North Texas on Sunday bringing scattered showers & storms and cooler temperatures, but through Saturday, we have seen eleven straight days where the high temperature was at least 98 degrees and three of those were at or above a hundred.

The last time we had below normal temperatures for at least two consecutive days was back on May 15th.

Two years ago today, we were on day two of an eleven day stretch of triple digit heat. That summer peaked at 107 and 2006 ended up being the warmest year on record for North Texas. By this point last year, we still had not seen a triple digit day as the rain continued to keep temperatures down for the first half of summer.
