The National Weather Service has released a new damage survey, showing an EF-1 tornado with winds from 90-95mph did damage Thursday morning on a path from Allen to McKinney.

This adds another EF-1 level tornado to the ones that hit near Alvarado and DeSoto.  These weren’t classic Texas supercell tornadoes, but they still produced quite a bit of damage.  They were most likely the result of “book-end vortices”.  That’s a big swirl on the edge of a thunderstorm with very high winds.  That’s why we had a mix of high winds and the small tornado damage.
