The main severe weather event is well Northeast of North Texas, but three tornado watches were in effect at dinner time, and more will likely be issued.

By 4:30, five tornadoes were reported in the midwest, two near Columbia, MO and three other tornadoes in Northern Illinois, including one with a three mile long path.

There may be just enough instability to generate a few severe thunderstorms this evening northeast of the metroplex, east of US-75 and north of IH-20, Northeast of Dallas.

Quick update: As of 10:30pm, more than 30 reports of tornadoes, most in MO, especially around the Springfield area, with one fatality and numerous injuries.
