It looks like a close call for major ice in the Metroplex.

As of 4:30am, Fort Worth has dropped to 32 degrees with light rain.

As temperatures slowly fall, any precip with changeover to frozen precip, (freezing rain, sleet or snow).

There are two factors that may keep this from being really bad. The ground temperatures, thanks to our recent warm spell, will keep widespread problems from developing, HOWEVER, bridges and overpasses don’t get the benefit of the warm ground helping keep them warmer than freezing.

Also, any precipitation will be light, of course, even light freezing rain can cause serious icing of bridges and overpasses.

With the gusty north winds, any ice accumulating on trees can be blown into power lines, and cause power outages.
